Here's a post from my Insta. For Adv Film students, here's an idea for your blog posts.
This old rocker is the most valuable piece of furniture in our home. It's value is not measured in dollars and cents but in the memories it contains. I loved this rocker growing up on the farm. On cold winter nights I'd move the rocker over the furnace duct and wrap myself in a blanket, hoarding all the warm air for myself. When I moved from the farm and out on my own the rocker went with me. On one move from house to house, the rocker fell off the truck and the driver backed over it. It still has those scars. After I married and had children, this was my favorite place to sit and cuddle with my sons. When Steven was a baby he was very sick and could not breathe. I held him all night in this rocker so he could breathe and sleep. Now, with the boys grown, the rocker seems lonely. It sits in a corner of our home and waits for attention. It's contributions to our family seem forgotten. But every once in awhile, I'll catch glimpses of the boys or Lisa enjoying the rocker, remembering good times spent in its care. |
